Mary Austin Watt is born Hanover County, VA of Hugh Watt and Sarah Bohannon Kidd. She is sister of George Watt who would later apprentice with John Haw.

Father John Haw II dies in Hanover County, VA at "Oak Grove" Farm.
Circa 1825
Established a mill just east end of farm inclusive of a foundry, saw mill and machine shop with water power. Subsequent fire destroyed mill and all shop equipment: Moved to Haw's Shop near Salem Church.

After 1 July, 1862
Following Seven Days Battle, John Haw realized his farm and business would probably be in line of battles and sold his foundry and machine shop to Tredegar Iron Works in Richmond. As he did not invest money in real estate and other valuable property, all was worthless after war.
